2023 has come and gone. It had it’s ups and downs as is the case with most years. It was especially chaotic halfway through when I sustained a head injury while playing basketball. I was rushed to the emergency room for a concussion. Thankfully it was not serious but the timing was what made this situation (almost) disastrous. It was 2 days before our baby was due. We could not have gotten through this rough patch without the help of our family and friends who stepped up to help out as much as they could by delivering meals, taking us shopping and even dropping off our kids at school while I was recovering. Praise God for our church community!
This experience has taught me that life can throw us curveballs and why it is important to have faith in Christ and set our hopes on Him alone. Life has it’s moments of joy but also has its share of sorrow and disappointment. If we cling to anything other than Christ to fulfill us, we will be let down because our circumstances are always in flux and continuously changing. However, Christ remains committed to us and loves us with an unchanging love that will never grow dim. It is a comfort beyond anything that we can experience here on earth and satisfies us to our very soul. He knows precisely what we need and when we need it. Just like He fed the 5000, He always takes care of those who trust in Him. He is the way, the truth and life!
This is a good reminder for 2024. No one knows what this year will bring about and why we need to rely on Christ even more than ever!
